Dear Fathers, thank you for your hospitality last Saturday, 14th August 2010, and for welcoming us so warmly. We travelled from Wantage, near Oxford, to attend A Day with Mary and we loved your Church. Your parishioners are blessed to have such a beautiful Church to worship in. We also love your website and will ask our 9 year old grandson to log on and read your jokes! God bless you all. Kind regards. |

This is truly amazing and beautiful. I feel like crying. Except for the table, the Church looks exactly as it was back in 1956, when my family moved to Chicago from London. I made my first confession at St. Mary's and made my first communion there as well. Attended St. Mary's Secondary School, which I see still stands on the satellite map. Thanks for a great website. God bless. |

Just thought I'd say "hi". My great grandfather was married at your church in 1906. He was one of the many Irish who came over to marry due to being in a mixed religion marriage as they were unable to marry at that time in Ireland. He did however return to live in Woolwich about 10 years later, which is why I am English and not Irish! It's shame there's no history page on your website yet. It would be nice to know something about the origins of your church.

I went to St.Mary's primary school between 1997 and 2004 and made my first holy communion in that church. Our nativity plays also took place there. |

So where has the guest book from Oct and Nov 2005 gone? I signed it some time after that and can see no entries between then and June 2007 |

Greetings from Montreal, Canada.
I have a copy of a baptism certificate from St. Mary's for my great Aunt Mary Louisa Gregory who was born Jan 25, 1878 and baptized March 31 1880. Her brother, my grandfather Joseph Gregory was also born and baptized there.
I just did a search for St. Mary's in Clapham and found you no problem. I thought it would be nice to say hello to the parish. I'm glad to see that you are still there. If I am ever in your part of the world I will definitely pay a visit.
Best regards;
Marty Gregory |

I used to attend this church from the age of 9 until I was 17. I remember going to 12pm mass on a Sunday. I always wanted to join the choir but was to shy to ask. I left Clapham in 1971 with my family to come to New Zealand. I was so excited to find this website. The church looks beautiful in these photos. |

I was a pupil at the attatched school at the rear, (Alphonsus Road?) during the early world war II years. We marched to school dinners alongside the common to St Mary´s Convent, while watching overhead battles in the sky - sheltered from the bombs in the crypt while continuing lessons and were entertained out of school hours with `slides of the holy land´ in St mary´s Hall. Mr Meheegan was the headmaster. We also slept in the London Underground at night and often returned in the morning to bombed houses and empty school desks. I was the onl Jewish boy in the school - maybe the only one ever? |
